14:41:32 From PH to Everyone:

My mom has peripheral neuropathy from diabetes and is 84. Would acupuncture help at this point? And do you have any suggestions for how to treat neurapathy that causes burning in the eyes and bladder?

14:43:02 From AS to Everyone:

I’ve had great success with a combination of acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, and B12 shots for the past 7 years on a regular basis and the peripheral neuropathy in my feet is really much better now.  I highly recommend the combined therapies.

14:43:04 From Mike Foxworth to Everyone:

Marlene has a question

14:43:46 From Glenn Ribotsky to Everyone:

Burning diabetic neuropathy sufferers should likely try a trial of lipoic acid, and make sure their B-vitamin levels are optimal (diabetes depletes the latter).

14:49:24 From Judson Vaughn – iPad to Everyone:

Orit will research acupuncture resources around the country.

14:50:23 From *Judson Vaughn* – iPad to Everyone:

Jon Rice: is resistance training related to Qi Gong?

14:50:36 From Mike Foxworth to Judson Vaughn – iPad (direct message):

Jud, maybe turn of your video since your finger movements are always visible

14:51:03 From **Glenn Ribotsky** to Everyone:

Resistance training is particularly important for people with metabolic neuropathy causes (particularly diabetes)–building muscle helps as muscle is generally the least insulin resistant body tissue and building muscle helps with glucose control.

14:53:09 From *Glenn Ribotsky* to Everyone:

Increased vascularization is generally good for almost any ailment–more oxygen and nutrients to cells, more carrying off of metabolic toxins.

14:57:37 From *Glenn Ribotsky* to Everyone:

One of the successes of the Human Genome Project has been the revelation of literally hundreds of genetic mutations that have neuropathy as a component.  The Washington University at St. Louis Neuromuscular Database tries to keep track of them:    https://neuromuscular.wustl.edu/time/hsn.htm

And Pam–has there been testing for autoimmune conditions such as Sjogren’s Syndrome?

15:00:46 From Chuck to Everyone:

I just rediscovered yesterday that 4 blood relatives (2 first cousin, 1 second cousin; and late father) have or had PN.  I’m shocked that a very expensive genetic test 8 years ago found no genes related to family PN.

15:02:04 From *Glenn Ribotsky* to Everyone:

The state of the art of testing for hereditary neuropathies is rapidly changing, and there are many more syndromes identified than there were even eight years ago.   Testing now would look for a lot more genetic anamolies.

15:07:00 From Chuck to Everyone:

Replying to “The state of the art of testing for hereditary neu…”:

Yes, that’s what I understand too.  However, Dr. Hoke keeps telling me to wait for a better genetic test being worked on in next 2 years

There is also chair yoga.
