Our May 1 Meeting

Heidi Garvis is making an encore visit to our group, having spoken in Annandale in May 2019. She is the co-owner and founder of “Caring Considerations,” working with older adults and their families since 2006 to help them plan for care in various senior housing communities and aging-in-place environments.

Heidi Garvis

On Saturday, May 1, 2021, join our own Peripheral Neuropathy Support Network at 2-4:00 to hear two guest speakers on the topic of planning for our care as we age.

Heidi’s presentation will include: What are the options for housing and care in later years? How do I make the best choice?  What is a CCRC? What are the differences between levels and types of care, such as assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing? What is the cost of  senior living and care?

Lauren Perea has been the Community Liaison with Old Dominion Home Care since 2015. Old Dominion Home Care provides home care solutions throughout the Northern Virginia region. Lauren will focus on: What is home care? When is it appropriate to consider this option? What is important to look for in a home care agency? What is the difference between hiring a caregiver privately vs through an agency or registry? What are the benefits of hiring a home care agency?

A Q and A session will follow, then open discussion of topics of interest.
