What is diabetic neuropathy?
- Diabetes is the most prevalent known cause of peripheral neuropathy
- High blood sugar in people with diabetes can cause damage to the peripheral nerves
- This can cause a range of potential symptoms, depending on the specific groups of nerves that are affected
- Nerve damage due to diabetes can be prevented or delayed by keeping blood sugar levels in the target range

How is it diagnosed?
- If people who have already been diagnosed with diabetes develop neuropathic symptoms, these are attributed to diabetic neuropathy
