Rickey Peoples: Dig deeper
My name is Ricky Peoples and I was diagnosed with neuropathy less than a year ago. My doctor didn’t provide a lot of information about the disease and I was pretty much left on my own. I started doing internet research.
I’ve learned a lot and recommend to everyone that they do spend some time researching this complicated disease.
I ran across a company called Living Health Integrative Medicine [https://www.mylivinghealth.com] in Annapolis (410-216-9180). They are a full-service provider and I really like working with them.
Working with them, i came up with a plan that has made a huge difference:
I am learning about nutrition
I’ve changed my eating radically. Eating more unprocessed foods. Eliminating sodas altogether. Staying away from inflammation-causing foods. I also discovered a California health food company called Vitacost (https://www.vitacost.com). They sell organic foods and supplements at reasonable prices. I’m very fond of their brown rice noodles. Also, if you have a sweet tooth like I do, Amazon has the best cookies with good ingredients (Hu cookies). The Top Chef paleo diet has helped me, too. I’m eating better than I ever have in my life and can feel the improvement.
I’m using infrared light therapy regularly
I heard some people in the group talk about infrared light machines and I did some homework. I ran across this company called Bedrock Bioscience [https://bedrockbioscience.com/product/led-foot-lightpad/]. The device wraps around my leg and focuses lights on my foot and leg. The machine, retails for $1599 on the web, but I found that if I went through Living Healthy, I could get one for $849. It is working well for me. I’ve been using this device for several months.
The Bedrock light can be used for other parts of the body, too. My back is been bothering me for a long time. I’m using the light on my back now and it has make my back pain go away.
I also use a foot bath through Rebuilder Medical. It costs $899. It has some electrodes that I put down in the water while my feet are soaking. I use this regularly. It generates an electrical current into the water that I can feel working. It can be turned up or down for comfort. i have the Model 300.
I’m walking everyday now
This plan has dropped my foot pain down to a 1 or 2. I realize that various therapies are specific to each person but this is working for me.
I encourage you to dig deeper to create a plan that will work for you. I take no medications. I tried gabapentin but quickly realized that I wanted no part of that drug.
When I was first diagnosed, I felt very isolated. And, when I couldn’t find the resources I needed, the situation felt hopeless. I really encourage you to dig deeper, find a group like ours, and educate yourself.
If I can be of help to anyone looking for solutions, please call me. I’m happy to answer questions or tell you more about my experience.
