Solo Aging Doesn’t Have To Be Lonely

Many older people eventually end up living alone. And many younger people dread the thought of it. The new term of “solo ager”.

Mary Erdman, PNSN executive team member, said, “I’m a solo ager who also has neuropathy. My sister is also a solo ager after losing her long time partner, Jon, to a terrible disease. She decided to move closer to me in Madison. We do not have children.”

Mary continued, “I’m on the wait list at two continuing care retirement communities. I like the idea of living in community. When I’m ready to move, I’ll get on the ready wait list. But, I have my foot in the door which is a good thing. All retirement communities in Madison (Wisconsin) are full and have long wait lists. I’m glad I signed on quite a while ago. I urge people to get on wait lists because the Boomer surge is real. And, shop around!”.
