Paced breathing, which Anne just led us through, has a variety of styles.
We just did what’s referred to as “Triangle Breathing” – inhaling, holding, and exhaling in equal amounts of time. There’s also square breathing, “3-4-5” breathing, and more 🙂

There is the school of thought that ALL of us have some degree of PTSD, as a life without trauma is virtually impossible. Our resiliencies, though, vary considerably.

What is the difference between venting and establishing a counseling opportunity? How do you do that?
15:14:12 From Glenn Ribotsky To Everyone:
Zoom keeps updating its programs seemingly every ten minutes–every time I go on these days things seem to glitch.

One of the things I was taught in therapy was that shame feeds in isolation. Just saying “Hey, I’m feeling some shame right now”, even just to yourself, but verbalizing it out loud, has been shown to help quite a bit.

Modern Western Civilization has certainly emphasized individual happiness in ways that are unusual in human history–most societies have been more collective and have not had individual happiness as a primary goal. So perhaps our expectations are too high.

15:29:59 From Glenn Ribotsky To Everyone:
It’s certainly true that more people have more options for “happiness” than ever before, but I suspect for most people it’s still very, very hard to realize. Maybe if you’re Warren Buffet.

Usually the suggestion is try PT first, then consider surgery, and it’s rarely, if ever, suggested to do anything bilaterally (both knees for example – eek.)

To your point earlier, Peter – autonomic neuropathy can cause cardiac problems that are deadly, too. So many different complications of neuropathy can be deadly, but it’s not technically/necessarily the neuropathy itself in most of the cases where people say “neuropathy isn’t deadly”
